Domain .it or .com: which to choose
The domain is your website's address (e.g. yourname.com). You buy it once, ~$10-15 a year. Here's which to choose.
๐ Download this guide as PDF
Before you start. Unzip the file you downloaded: you get a folder with index.html, _astro, img, fonts and more. When a guide says "upload the site", it means everything inside that folder โ the files and subfolders, not the folder that contains them.
- For an international audience: a .com works everywhere. Register it on Cloudflare, Aruba, or anyone.
- For a local Italian business: a .it builds trust. Register it on Aruba โ note that Cloudflare does not sell .it domains.
- How to register: go to the registrar, search your name, check it's free, add to cart and complete the purchase.
- Then choose where to host. You can host on the same provider, or host free on Cloudflare Pages and point the DNS. Our hosting guides show you how.
In short: pick the extension your customers expect โ .com for international, .it for a local Italian business.
